Useful guidance, clear limits
Thanksgiving.how connects menu, quantity, equipment, people, and timing. We distinguish planning estimates from official safety guidance and show where our recommendations come from.
What Feast Flow calculates
The planner starts with adult and child guest counts, menu type, desired leftovers, meal time, and available ovens. It uses transparent editorial ratios to estimate centerpiece, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert, then works backward from dinner to create a run of show.
These are planning estimates, not guarantees. Appetite, serving style, recipe yield, package size, and the number of other dishes all change what a table needs. The result includes a visible reminder to adjust for your people.
How menus and recipes are developed
Menus are designed as systems: the centerpiece, sides, make-ahead work, oven temperatures, and serving order have to fit together. Recipes provide a practical starting point and name their equipment, timing, and make-ahead assumptions.
Home appliances and ingredients vary. Follow manufacturer directions, use sensory cues alongside a timer, and use an accurate food thermometer where safety is involved.
Safety and dietary guidance
Food-safety claims are anchored to current U.S. Department of Agriculture guidance and link to the original source. Thanksgiving.how is planning support, not medical advice or a substitute for current government instructions.
Dietary labels describe ingredients as written. They do not certify a kitchen, packaged ingredient, or cross-contact process. For a serious allergy or celiac disease, speak directly with the guest and verify every ingredient and preparation surface.
History and living cultures
We use resources from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian to avoid the flattened “first Thanksgiving” myth and to center Wampanoag perspectives. Native nations are distinct, contemporary communities. We do not use generic Native costumes, crafts, or imagery as holiday decoration.
Dates, images, and review
Holiday dates are calculated from the U.S. fourth-Thursday-in-November and Canadian second-Monday-in-October rules. Live weather, traffic, fares, store inventory, and travel status are intentionally left to their authoritative providers.
Some editorial photography may be digitally created. Images are reviewed for obvious visual errors, and safety-critical instructions never depend on interpreting a photo.
