Bringing food
Design the dish for the trip
Choose food that travels well and does not depend on the host finding surprise oven space. Cold salads, relishes, bread, and fully finished desserts are usually easier than a casserole that must bake on arrival.
- Use a rigid, leak-resistant container inside an insulated carrier.
- Keep cold food at 40°F or below and hot food at 140°F or above; use current USDA guidance for transport and holding.
- Pack garnish separately and bring the correct serving utensil.
- Label allergens and cross-contact limits plainly.
